LHC concerned over security at historical, public places

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Wednesday expressed concern over the security measures at historical places and public buildings.

Justice Mehmood Bajwa asked the provincial home secretary to consider the petition seeking foolproof security arrangements of historical buildings and other public places within three weeks.

The judge remarked that when people carry weapons in the court premises, how the security at the public places could be foolproof.

Earlier, Bajwa sought details from the home secretary, inspector general, and the capital city police officer that what steps have been taken so far for the security of public at public places, including historical buildings.

Petitioner Ali Javed Dogar that everyday thousands of people visit these places but there were no proper security arrangements, adding that after the Iqbal park blast it was necessary that property security measures be taken at these buildings and places.
