Ali Gilani may consider a Hollywood movie, write a book

LAHORE: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani has said that he plans to write a book after his unexpected release after three year’s captivity in Afghanistan.

Ali might also accept an offer from Steven Spielberg to work in a Hollywood movie. Although the notes and records he made during his captivity in Afghanistan have been lost but he still remembers them clearly and wishes to pen them down so others may know as well of the hardships that one has to face under such dire circumstances.

“My son plans to write a book on the ordeal he had gone through in three-year captivity of militants,” the former premier said. “My son had written a manuscript for a book detailing his ordeal in captivity but it was burnt by his the captors. But, he intends to pen down what he had gone through during the period. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also encouraged him to write a book about his ordeal,” he said.

Renowned Hollywood director Steven Spielberg also wanted to make a movie on the tormenting episode of Ali’s abduction and captivity and that he also telephoned him (Ali) and offered him to work in the movie, he said. “Today US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also telephoned me and congratulated me over the return of my son. I told her that militants kidnapped my son to punish me for launching a military operation in Malakand division,” he said.

“I also thanked her for US forces’ help in Ali’s release. Clinton promised me she would invite me to the White House if she would be elected president,” he said. “I just want to thank everyone for their prayers for my return. I am happy to get home safely. Its Allah’s blessing. I am feeling great,” Ali said. “I was very close to Almighty Allah even before (being kidnapped by) the Taliban,” he said in his response to a question of whether he will keep the beard or not.
