Detractors want to impede progress and development: Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: In an address to the elected representatives, Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that those who were criticising the government without due cause wanted to impede people's progress and prosperity. He also said that such elements were not at all concerned with the development and prosperity of the common man. However, the Chief Minister of Punjab expressed his willingness to go till the end for the welfare of the public and ensure development projects continue unhindered.

During his speech, Shahbaz Sharif said that he was serving the people of Pakistan with honesty, integrity and pure intentions. "Certain elements are trying to stop stop us on our road to development and for this, they are indulging in negative politics," he said. He also proceeded on to say that such elements were not sympathetic with the problems of the common man neither did they want to see the people of Pakistan in a better state.

Shahbaz Sharif also heaped praise on the Metro train system and said that it was a great and unique plan to provide benefit to the common man. He said that China had issued funds amounting to rupees thirty-three billion rupees, which despite opponents' propaganda, was a huge victory.

The Sharifs have been under pressure after calls for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down have intensified, in light of the Panama leaks controversy. PM Nawaz has been accused of money laundering and tax evasion after a Panamanian tax firm's leaked documents disclosed Maryam, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz owned offshore companies.
