PM pays tribute to martyred captain, names hospital after him

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the valiant soldiers of Pakistan Army had always rendered invaluable sacrifices for the nation and would also succeed in the war against terrorism.

Talking to Dr Fayyaz Bukhari, father of Captain Asfandyar Bukhari who embraced martyrdom in a military operation last year, the prime minister said “such brave soldiers are pride of the nation”. While paying tribute to the martyred captain, PM Nawaz said, “Asfandyar and the jawans of Pakistan Army are the saviors of the country". Heartening the parents he said, “Such parents deserve honour and respect whose children sacrifice their lives while bravely fighting the enemy.”

Captain Asfandyar was leading his troops from the front during the operation against terrorists in Badaber camp Peshawar last year. After meeting the prime minister, Dr Fayyaz said that he was a proud father of a son who died while saving the lives of his fellow officers and hundreds of people residing at the Pakistan Air Force colony.

He lauded the decision of the prime minister for renaming the District Headquarters Hospital, Attock as Captain Asfandyar Bukhari Shaheed Hospital. He also expressed gratitude to the prime minister for acknowledging the sacrifice of his son and said that it was good to know that PM Nawaz was well-aware about the martyred captain. “The prime minister has honoured us for being the family of the Shaheed. We pray that may Allah bestow on him honor and respect,” he said. Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif was also present in the meeting.
