Imran initiates ‘tiger force’ to ensure security of women in rallies

MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan addressed his supporters at Muzaffarabad rally on Wednesday, amidst high tensions in the political arenas, especially between PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) over Panama Papers leaks.

He began his address by announcing his plans for holding the rally in Faisalabad, which was postponed a few days ago over the women’s harassment issue. He also expressed hopes of a heavy turnout of people to attend that rally. Imran also announced that a ‘tiger force’ has been created to protect the women attending the PTI rallies. Reiterating the claim that the harassers were sent by some other party, he also warned that if anyone tries to enter PTI rallies to harass women again, they will be beaten up by the Tiger Force.

He went on to say, “I have no doubt that this country has a very bright future and I am standing here to lead you towards that bright future”. Imran then talked about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement about development projects in Dera Ismail Khan. He said that the prime minister has announced the same airport for the fourth time only to woo Maulana Fazlur Rehman who is trying to save Nawaz and cover up his corruption for his own ambitions, none of which are for the betterment of the country.

He said that the Prophet Muhammad (peace by upon him) is the greatest leader of Muslims and he has given us perfect example of leadership. Imran said that a leader does not come into leadership position to make his own factories and businesses and a corrupt leader spoils the morals and ethics of the entire nation.

Talking about the hot topic of the day, he mentioned Panama Papers again and said, “Maryam Nawaz claimed on media a while ago that there are no properties owned by her or her family in or outside Pakistan. Little did she know that Panama Papers are going to reveal all the secrets of her family’s offshore properties”. He said that if a leader lies to the nation or tries to hide his corruption, then he cannot continue to call himself the leader.

Earlier, PTI workers had once again found themselves in a brawl before Muzaffarabad rally. Two separate groups of people tried entering the venue at the same time and ended up in a fight and used chairs to beat each other up. Before the arrival of Imran, however, things had calmed down and apart from minor interruptions the chairman got a chance to address the attendees peacefully.
