Work on KHI-HYD Highway to commence end of December

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was informed on Saturday that work on the Karachi-Hyderabad Highway will commence in the last week of December.

Prime Minister Sharif was briefed on development projects by the National Highway Authority (NHA) chairman. The prime minister was told the inauguration for the Faisalabad-Gojra Motorway will be in the second week of December.

Prime Minister Sharif said motorways and other major development projects should be completed during the tenure of the government. He added that in 2018 people will have a ‘better Pakistan’. The NHA chairman was also directed by the prime minister to complete the Karachi-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Khanweal-Lahore motorways at the earliest.

The Karachi-Hyderabad Highway project was also inaugurated during the tenure of Presidents Musharraf and Asif Ali Zardari but it was not implemented.
