US supports Pakistan in war against terror

ISLAMABAD: United States Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said on Monday that his country remains steadfast in its commitment to the people of Pakistan in their efforts to counter terrorism, uphold the rule of law, and build a peaceful future for themselves and their children.
In a statement, the ambassador said that the United States condemns the senseless terrorist act at the Wagah Border. “On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government and people of Pakistan.”
He said that this act demonstrated terrorists’ blatant disregard for life.
The ambassador further said that the US supported Pakistan’s efforts to bring all those involved in planning and executing this attack to justice and stood ready to provide any appropriate assistance to the authorities investigating this tragic attack.
Meanwhile, UN chief Ban Ki-moon also condemned the attack and said such “terrorist acts” were never justified. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Ban “condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that took place yesterday. Such terrorist acts are not justifiable under any circumstances.”
