NewsPTI MNA resignations: SHC issues notices to NA Speaker, ECP
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notices to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and the Election of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition regarding the failure to accept the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs.
A two member bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed and Justice Junaid Ghaffar heard the petition filed in the SHC stating that PTI MNAs had tendered their resignations which were not being accepted. The SHC directed the NA Speaker and ECP to submit their replies on December 3.
The petition maintained failure to accept the resignations was a violation of Article 64 of the constitution by the NA Speaker. The petition called for the resignations of PTI MNAs to be accepted and all their incentives to be withdrawn.
