Govt trying to appease IMF: Raza Rabbani

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Raza Rabbani on Wednesday alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to hand over Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to foreigners, saying his party was not ready to accept its privatization.
Addressing a press conference here, Senator Rabbani termed the hike of power tariff as totally unjustified.

He said the incumbent government was taking all these steps to appease International Monetary Fund (IMF) which had recently refused to come to Pakistan.
Rabbani further said that the government had lied to the people in connection with the reversal of the rise in power tariff announced for the month of October. The notification to this effect has not yet been withdrawn, he added.
