Issue of PTI MPAs resignations in Punjab Assembly deadlocked

LAHORE: A similar situation to one witnessed in the National Assembly arose in the Punjab Assembly on Friday over the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs.

PTI MPAs were adamant on submitting their resignations collectively while the speaker called on them to individually tender their resignations. Talks between the government team and PTI also stalled. The task to initiate dialogue with the PTI MPAs was given to Deputy Speaker Rana Sanaullah by the Punjab Assembly Speaker.

According to rules, resignations can only be accepted if they are submitted on an individual basis.

The stance taken by PTI MPAs parallels that of their party members in the National Assembly. PTI MNAs also refused to have their resignations verified on an individual basis by the NA Speaker.
