Balochistan CM announces welfare projects

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has announced Rs 30 million for a water supply scheme in Chaghai District, Rs 60 million for Chaghai District Complex, Rs 20 million for provision of electricity to the sub-tehsils of Chaghai District and two generators to Nukundi and provision of one ambulance for areas of Nukundi and Taftan.
Addressing a public gathering in Dalbandin on Thursday, the Balochistan chief minister said it was a bitter dilemma that people of a resource-rich area lack the facility of clean drinking water. “This is a very unfortunate tragedy. Protection of the resources and coast is a part of our faith,” he added.
He said that the coast and resources of Balochistan would be protected at any cost and the masses would be informed about all the proceedings of Reko Diq project.
Dr Baloch said that the masses of Balochistan should forge unity and exert their authority over the resources. “Justice is not served to the weak nor are their rights granted,” he stressed.
He said that Chaghai is one of the resource-rich areas of the world but the masses here lack the basic facilities of clean drinking water, adding that the 21st century is a century of knowledge and skill. “The very nations who are equipped with the ornaments of education and modern knowledge would survive in this modern world,” he said.
Dr Baloch said that a political party which holds an ideological and political vision can fight the gravest circumstances.
“The absent teachers are perpetrators of crimes and are playing with future of the nation,” he added.
He said that no one would dare to snatch resources of the Baloch once they unite. “Reko Diq is the future of Balochistan and our children and the masses are well aware of the past,” he added.
The Balochistan chief minister said it is right of the Baloch to be informed about the extraction of their resources, adding that through the 18th Amendment, the government had taken this authority from the Centre. He said that he advocates the devolution of power from Islamabad not only to Quetta but to the grass roots level, adding that all the vacant posts of teachers at the union council level would be filled.
