Hasham appointed as vice naval chief

ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday appointed Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique as vice chief of the Naval Staff.

Hasham was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy in June 1980. He undertook initial training at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, UK, said a press release issued by the Naval Headquarters here.

On commissioning, the officer won the coveted Sword of Honour from the Pakistan Naval Academy. He got his early education from prestigious Pakistan Air Force College Sargodha and FSc from the Cadet College, Petaro.

During his distinguished career, the vice admiral attained experience of both command and staff appointments. His key staff appointments included chief staff officer to the commander of the Pakistan Fleet, assistant chief of the Naval Staff (plans), deputy chief of the Naval Staff (admin), deputy chief of the Naval Staff (operations) and the deputy chief of the Naval Staff (projects).

Prior to his appointment as the vice chief of the Naval Staff, Hassam was serving as the chief of the staff at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. The vice admiral is a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College and the National Defence University, Islamabad.

He holds master’s degree in Operations Research from the US and Joint Warfare and War Studies from the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He also has MPhil degree in Public Policy and Strategic Security Management. In recognition of his meritorious, he has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz-Military.
