NewsItalian Army Chief calls on Gen Raheel Sharif
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif Monday reiterated commitment and resilience of the people of Pakistan and its armed forces in confronting multifarious security challenges faced by the country.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the COAS expressed these views during his meeting with General Claudio Graziano, Chief of Staff of Italian Army who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on him at General Headquarters today.
During the meeting, wide range of issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation and measures contributing towards regional stability came under discussion.
General Graziano praised the professional excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces and Pakistan’s positive role in the promotion of regional peace and stability. He said that Italy was committed to further deepening its already strong defence ties with Pakistan.
Earlier, on arrival at GHQ, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to Italian chief of Staff, who laid floral wreath at Yadgar – e –Shuada and paid rich tributes to mammoth sacrifices of Pakistan Armed forces.
