Gen Graziano calls on Gen Sharif, lauds Pakistan’s role in peace
Italian army chief lays floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada
INPRAWALPINDI - Italian Chief of Army Staff General Claudio Graziano, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.
During the meeting, wide range of issues of mutual interest, including defence, security cooperation and measures contributing towards regional stability came under discussion. General Sharif reiterated commitment and resilience of the people of Pakistan and its armed forces in confronting multifarious security challenges.
General Graziano praised the professional excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces and Pakistan’s positive role in the promotion of regional peace and stability. He said that Italy was committed to further deepening its already strong defence ties with Pakistan.
On arrival at the GHQ, a smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to the Italian army chief, who laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and paid rich tributes to mammoth sacrifices of the armed forces of Pakistan.
