LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Wednesday announced to step down from the office of Chairperson, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

In a statement, Maryam Nawaz said she had voluntarily decided to quit as the head of PM’s Youth Programme.

“I made an utmost effort to ensure the programme remains free of corruption of even a single penny,” she said, adding, positions don’t matter and vowed to continue serving the masses.

She hoped that the PM’s Youth Programme continues positively as it did till today.

Maryam Nawaz, before taking the above decision, discussed the matter with the Prime Minister.

Her resignation has been delivered to Prime Minister’s office, sources said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as Chairperson of PM’s Youth Programme had been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC) by Zubair Niazi, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The LHC in its last hearing of the case had ordered for Maryam Nawaz’s reply to be presented on November 10.
