Pakistan, Germany to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields

ISLAMABAD - Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that government has been focusing on inviting investors of China and Germany to invest in different development projects in Pakistan.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already explained that we need to revise our economy policy and these visits are the part of that policy. He said that the government was giving top priority to economic revival but unconstitutional sit-ins have resulted in de-stabling of the economy.

Despite, the government has been making efforts to bring economy on the right track and new ways would be opened for foreign investment and progress of Pakistan, he said. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab said that progress of any country can be assessed by its economy. If all the economy related projects are practically implemented then Pakistan would be developed in true means, he said.

He said that China has shown its interest to invest in different development projects in Pakistan. Participants of sit-in should adopt democratic way for their protest. Economist Dr Shahid Hussain Siddiqui said that China is becoming the economic power in the world and investment of China would be helpful for improving the economy of Pakistan.

He said that we are hopeful that the government would overcome load-shedding and the economy would improve with help of this investment. Economist said that visits of Germany and UK are also an effort to motivate foreign investments in different development projects in Pakistan. Government should not depend on International Monetary Fund and World Bank for investments.

Senior analyst Maqbool Elahi Malik said that the government has been focusing to overcome energy crisis on emergency basis. The visits of prime minister also represent the efforts in this regard. He said that the 2025 vision with China would bring a change in improving the economy and resolving all the issues that Pakistan has been facing.

Germany will hopefully invest in energy sector and wind energy projects in Pakistan. Some political parties have been creating hurdles to divert the attention of the government but government is focusing on improving the economy, he said.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce former president Majeed Aziz said that prime minister was very serious to resolve energy crisis. He has invited German investors to come to Pakistan and invest in short and long term projects, he said. We are hopeful that prime minister would succeed to motivate foreign investors to invest in different development projects in Pakistan, he said.
