Pervez Rashid urges Imran to resume talks with govt

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has said the government and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz have nothing to do with Jhelum incident, a reference to Sunday’s armed clash which left nine PTI workers injured.

Addressing a press conference, he said that investigations were being carried out into the attack.

The minister urged Imran Khan to allow his team to resume talks with the government. “We are ready for talks, Imran Khan suspended negotiations only after one phase,” he said, adding that talks would be held in accordance with the law and the Constitution.

We have no intention to arrest Imran Khan, but he should make promise through his Jehlim rally that he will not provoke people for violence,” the minister said.

Pervez Rashid strongly criticized the former cricket hero for what he said contradictory statements

“Imran Khan provoked his workers to attack state buildings and PTI lawyers got the attackers released on bails,” he said.

He advised Imran Khan to renounce politics of violence and achieve his purpose through parliamentary politics.

Pervez Rasheed told journalists that Imran Khan referred to the people who attacked the PTV building and parliament as ‘my tigers’ adding that Khan later called them back and the attackers obliged.

Rasheed played visuals from Imran Khan’s various rallies to support his argument.
