LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has said that the enforcement of the Islamic system was the constitutional requirement of Pakistan.

Addressing a Donors Conference at Jamia Tafheemul Quran, Mardan on Sunday, he said that an Islamic Pakistan alone could guarantee a prosperous Pakistan. An amount of Rs two million was collected for the JI Ijtema through donations at the function. He said that the agents of the West had been ruling Pakistan for the last 67 years, they were responsible for the mess at present and their policies were still continuing.

He said that he would present a peoples agenda at the JI Ijtema at Minar-e-Pakistan to mark the beginning of a movement for an Islamic Pakistan. He said that an Islamic Pakistan would be able to face the challenges from within and abroad. He said that the JI Ijtema would pull the nation out of despair and create hope among the masses. However, he said, that the people would have to rise for improving their lot.

Replying to a question from the journalists, he said that the main issue of the displaced persons was the return to their homes as 85 per cent of the area had been cleared.
