Imran will be responsible for lawlessness in Pakistan: Rashid
Minister says govt, PML-N have nothing to do with Sunday’s armed clash which left PTI workers injured

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid on Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would be responsible for any lawlessness in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that the PTI chief has been inciting hatred by asking his supporters to resort to violence if demands not met. “Imran has a dual personality. On one hand he asks his supporters to attack Parliament House and on the other hand asks for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation.” Rashid said.

He asked the PTI chief to let the people of Pakistan know if his party stands by the speech of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed delivered during PTI’s rally in Nankana Sahib. “If AML chief's speech is not the policy of PTI then Imran should report the former to police for preaching violence,” he said.

Moreover, Rashid urged the PTI chief to ensure that their workers would not resort to any sort of violence. He said that the government and the Pakistan Muslim League-N have nothing to do with Jhelum incident, a reference to Sunday’s armed clash which left PTI workers injured. He said that investigations were being carried out into the attack.

He urged Imran to allow his team to resume talks with the government. “We are ready for talks, Imran suspended negotiations only after one phase,” he said, adding talks would be held in accordance with the law and the constitution. We have no intention to arrest Imran, but he should make promise through his Jehlum rally that he would not provoke people for violence,” he said.

Rashid told journalists that Imran referred to the people who attacked the Pakistan Television building and the parliament as ‘my tigers’ adding Imran later called them back and the attackers obliged. He played visuals from Imran’s various rallies to support his argument.
