Islamabad polls: ECP asks parties to issue tickets by 9th

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Sunday instructed the heads of political parties to issue party tickets to their nominated candidates for local government elections in Islamabad till November 9, as the tickets were required to be presented to the returning officer by the candidate for allotment of party symbol.

The said instructions were dispatched through post to all the political parties on their addresses available with the Commission, said spokesman of the ECP.

The LG elections would be held on November 30 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), he added.

Party ticket, either by the party head or by his authorised office-bearer, shall be issued latest by November 09 for the ICT elections for the purpose of allotment of symbol to such candidates by the returning officers at the time notified by the Commission for the purpose, the statement said.

“Party ticket issued by the authorised bearer or by the party head may not be recalled or cancelled. Care may be taken that against one seat only one party ticket is issued. In case, the party head chooses to act in accordance with the provisions, he may provide a list of such authorised office-bearers containing name, designation, CNIC numbers and other particulars of such authorised person to the district returning officer, ICT latest by October 26, who will forward the list to all returning officers in ICT for necessary action,” the statement by the ECP said.

“Party ticket may contain name, parentage and CNIC number of the candidate. Party head or the person authorised by him must put his signature and stamp on each party ticket and write the date of issuance of the ticket.”
