Poll victory has crushed enemy propaganda

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said party’s victory with a thumping majority in recently held local government elections in Sindh province had shattered the dreams of the opponents who were propagating that PPP was now a thing of the past. “Generation after generation, jiyalas and the people of Pakistan have crushed such propagandas with their votes whenever the elections were held in free and fair manner,” he said, and added that people of Sindh had completely rejected the propaganda against the party and elected PPP candidates with thumping majority in all the eight districts. He hoped that local government elections will usher in a new era of development and progress and will further strengthen democracy and democratic forces in the country. Bilawal Bhutto expressed grief and sorrow over death of more than a dozen people in armed clashes in Khairpur, Faisalabad and other parts of Punjab. “These are tragic incidents. Both Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the administration should ensure that adequate security measures are put in place during the next phases of local government elections,” he added.
