ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted time to State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali and other parties for submission of written reply till November 10 over alleged violations of elections code of conduct in Local Bodies polls in Punjab.

A four-member commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan resumed hearing into the violation of code of conduct issued by the electoral body for LB polls on Wednesday.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) and CCPO Faisalabad submitted report before the commission.

The report says that FIR was lodged against Abid Sher Ali and member provincial assembly Khawaja Islam for holding a public rally without prior permission and it also continued 11 minutes after the election campaign time was ended.

Abid Sher Ali and Khawaja Islam sought time to submit a reply while Faisalabad Administration urged for more time to present further evidence.

ECP granted time and adjourned the matter till November 10.

Later, talking to media Abid Sher Ali said, “I will appear before Returning Officer on Saturday at 10:00 AM and ask him to arrest me if I am guilty or remove my name from the FIR so that I can initiate legal proceeding against those who registered fake case against me.”
