‘Judges, lawyers can improve judicial system’

LAHORE – Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik has said that the judges and lawyers could bring improvement in judicial system.

He said this while addressing a ceremony organised by the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) on his elevation as judge of the Supreme Court here on Wednesday. After taking oath of his office, he said that he visited districts across the Punjab and held meetings with the bar associations of far-flung areas and took steps for redressal of the problems.

He said that shortage of judges was a big problem which had been resolved in short time and 373 civil judges and 79 additional and district sessions judges were appointed. Senior Judge Sardar Tariq Masood said that 98 percent lawyers wanted to work but only two percent lawyers were responsible for creating problems in the system and it was important to check them.
