Karachi witnesses 48 pc decline in target killing: Interior Ministry

ISLAMABAD: Karachi has witnessed 48 percent decline in the incidents of target killing while the rate of other types of killings has also come down by 37 percent in the Rangers led operation, representatives of the Interior Ministry told the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Presenting the crime statistics to the NA, the Interior Ministry disclosed that Punjab has the highest rate of theft and street crime in the country.

The NA was informed that a total of 375,000 cases registered across the country, the province of Punjab led with 310,000 cases. And out of 120,000 street crimes in the country, Punjab also topped with 93,000.

In Sindh 46,000 cases of theft and 21,000 of street crimes were reported while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the break up of theft and street crimes is 8,000 and 765 respectively.
