Pakistan calls for global unity against terrorism

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Sunday stressed the need for more cooperation and coordination at the global level to defeat terrorists and their mind set.

Addressing a function organised by the Foreign Office Women's Association in connection with their annual charity here at the Foreign Office, he said Pakistan had come out of the terror crisis due to resilience shown by the whole nation.

He said through cooperation and unity among the nation, Pakistan had successfully overpowered the menace of terrorism. He also lauded the contribution and sacrifices of the army for launching a successful operation to curb the menace of terrorism.

The foreign secretary said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif deserved the credit for evolving consensus and unity to fight the terrorists and emphasised the need for better and effective cooperation and coordination at global level to tackle extremism and terrorism.

He said Pakistan strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris that have resulted in the loss of more than 100 precious lives. “Pakistan stands with the victims of the terrorists attack in their hour of grief and pray for speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.

Earlier, a moment of silence was observed to express solidarity and sympathies with those who lost their lives in the tragic incidents in Paris.
