LG polls: DG Rangers reviews security at Sindh polling stations

KARACHI: Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh, Major General Bilal Akbar on Thursday visited Thatta, Badin and Hyderabad reviewing the security arrangements for the second phase of Local Government polls with the local administration.

He also inspected the security arrangements at Jilani polling station in Makli.

A large number of Police personnel and 1,000 Rangers personnel were assigned duties on various polling stations in Thatta.

Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Nadeemur Rehman Memon told the media that strict security arrangements were made to ensure peace in Thatta District.
Overall law and order situation remained peaceful with very few reports of minor clashes throughout the day.

A visit to various polling stations by a group of newsmen witnessed the great interest among the people for casting their votes.

The DG Rangers later left for Badin and Hyderabad.

Speaking to media representatives in Hyderabad, Maj Gen Akbar said the polling concluded peacefully in all 14 districts of the province. “With reports of one or two incidents, nothing big happened throughout Sindh today,” he said.

The DG Rangers added that no one was allowed to take the law in his own hands.
