President rejects mercy plea of APS convicts

ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain has rejected the mercy petition of the four terrorists responsible for the massacre at the Army Public School in Peshawar, a private TV channel reported on Friday.

According to details, a military court had announced death sentence to the four persons after the Peshawar massacre. On Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had sent a summary to the president advising him to reject the petition.

“Killers of our children and perpetrators of such brutal crimes do not deserve any mercy,” the summary read. Nawaz had also mentioned the immediate actions taken by the state institutions after the Peshawar tragedy.

Last December, several militants stormed Peshawar's Army Public School and killed at least 150 persons, majority of them children. The incident caused a huge uproar around the world, leading to the formulation of the 20-point National Action Plan.
