Rabbani, Yu discuss economic corridor project

BEIJING – Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Friday met top Chinese political adviser Yu Zhengsheng, who called for accelerated construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.Yu - chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference - called on leadership of both the countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade as well as transportation, infrastructure, anti-terrorism measures and culture.
He also lauded the political trust and mutual support between the two countries, saying the conference was excited about having more exchanges with Pakistan's parliament on issues concerning economic development.
On his part, Rabbani said it was the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy to develop friendly ties with China. He expressed hope that the two sides could jointly strengthen their ties.
