‘Bangladesh group’ against amicable ties with Pakistan: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said a ‘group’ in Bangladesh is averse to restoration of amicable atmosphere between the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In a statement issued here, the Interior Minister said it is high time the thirst ended now for taking revenge against anyone, 'who is supportive of Pakistan'.

“The people of Pakistan and Bangladesh wish to cultivate amicability and brotherhood by putting behind bitterness of the past,”

Nisar said he is surprised to witness the silence of the world, particularly, the institutions of human rights over what he called the ‘killing of justice’.

Pakistan calls for reconciliation in Bangladesh under 1974 agreement

Pakistan expressed deep concern and anguish over the unfortunate executions of Bangladesh National Party leaders Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mojaheed.

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson said Pakistan is deeply disturbed at this development.

The Spokesperson said Pakistan has also been noting the reaction of the international community on the flawed trials in Bangladesh related to the events of 1971.

He said reconciliation is needed in Bangladesh in accordance with the spirit of Pakistan-India-Bangladesh Agreement of 9th April 1974. The Agreement calls for a forward looking approach in matters relating to 1971. He said this would foster goodwill and harmony.

Meanwhile, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul-Haq has expressed deep concern over the execution of Ali Ahsan Mojaheed in Bangladesh prison.

In a statement, the JI chief said that Ali Ahsan Mojaheed was executed for his loyalty with ideology of Pakistan.

He asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to take notice of the executions.
