PM visits Air Headquarters, assures full support to PAF’s future plans

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday lauded the lead role played by the Pakistan Air Force for law enforcement during Zarb-e-Azb military operation and assured full support of the government to the future development plans of the air force.

In his visit to the Air Headquarters here, the prime minister expressed satisfaction on completion of PAF's upgradation programmes and induction of new equipment. The prime minister was given a comprehensive briefing on the operational readiness of the Pakistan Air Force and its role during operation Zarb-e-Azb.

He was also apprised about the nation-building measures taken by PAF in the form of education and sports. On his arrival at the Air Headquarters, the prime minister was received by Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, chief of the air staff.

A smartly-turned out contingent of PAF presented guard of honour to the prime minister. The prime minister laid a floral wreath at the martyrs' monument. He was also introduced to the Principal Staff Officers at the Air Headquarters.

In a meeting with the air chief, Prime Minister Nawaz discussed matters pertaining to internal and external security. The future developmental plans of PAF soliciting the government's approval were also discussed in the meeting. The prime minister was told that the Pakistan Air Force has worked relentlessly in rescue and relief for the victims of recent flood in Punjab and Sindh region.

The PAF has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the entire nation in helping the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan. Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt presented a cheque worth Rs 34.5 million to the prime minister on behalf of all the airmen and civilians of the PAF. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also accompanied the prime minister.
