NA body condemns Indian atrocities on Working Boundary, LoC
* Committee urges Foreign Office to sensitise international community to play role in resolving issue

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Thursday strongly condemned unprovoked violations by Indian forces on the Working Boundary (WB) and Line of Control (LoC).
The committee, which met with Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari in the chair, offered condolence to the families of those martyred by Indian firing and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry officials briefed the committee on the Indian violations. The committee observed that in the backdrop of cancellation of foreign secretary-level talks by India, the Foreign Office should immediately sensitise the international community to play a role in resolving the issue between Pakistan and India, said a press release.The committee urged the United Nations Military Observer Group (UNMOGIP) to hold an impartial investigation and submit a report to the Security Council.
The committee stressed that the UNMOGIP must be facilitated to discharge its responsibility to monitor ceasefire and help preserve peace along the LoC and Working Boundary.
The committee criticised India for not giving access to the UN agencies during floods in held Kashmir.
It proposed that there should be debate in the upcoming session of parliament on Indian violations. The meeting was attended by lawmakers Najeebuddin Awaisi, Muhammad Khan Daha, Marvi Memon, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Dr Fehmida Mirza, Naeema Kishwar Khan and Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao. Advisor to Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz was also present.
