Eradication of polio from Pakistan is our motto: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on Friday expressed government’s commitment towards eradicating polio and said that every resource is being utilized to eliminate the crippling disease.

The PM expressed his views while addressing from a ceremony at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad in connection with the World Polio Day. The prime minister told that his office is directly monitoring the polio eradication initiative along with reviewing the progress on this matter.

PM Nawaz further said that an emergency has been imposed in the country and steps are being taken in order to contain the virus. He told that a focus group for polio emergency has also been constituted that hold monthly meetings to assess the performance of the polio eradication program.

Furthermore, a comprehensive communication strategy has been designed to promote immunization program as the government is committed to root out the disease.

On this occasion, the prime minister met with the polio affected children and their parents. He also administered polio vaccine drops to the children.
