Nawaz, Shahbaz discuss cabinet reshuffle

LAHORE – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that those trying to destabilise democracy and the government will face disappointment.

In a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here in Jati Umra, he said that the nation has rejected politics of sit-ins and protests. He said that all the energies of the government were concentrated towards uplift. He said that the government would come up to expectations of the people by resolving all issues, especially the issue of energy crisis.

During the meeting, strategy to handle the situation arising out of the new call of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for a massive sit-in on November 30, reshuffling in the Punjab cabinet and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri’s call for countrywide rallies came under discussion.

Shahbaz informed the prime minister about the flood relief efforts of the Punjab government, ongoing development projects and other issues. The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has come to power with the votes of the masses and it would complete its mandated tenure, Nawaz said.

He said that the politicians doing politics of sit-ins should focus on public service. He said that the PML-N governments at the centre and in Punjab were working with a mission to serve the masses and no hindrance in this process would be tolerated.

Later on, chairing a high-level meeting, the chief minister said that every penny of national exchequer was being used transparently for the financial assistance of the flood affected people. He said that over two billion rupees were disbursed among the affected people in the first phase.

He said that the payments would be made after authenticated survey of the damaged houses and crops in the flood-hit areas. He said that the payments will also be made to the people, whose source of earning has been affected.
