PTI stick to guns over resignations

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to stay firm on its decision that party MNAs would not appear before the National Assembly Speaker individually to verify that they had tendered resignations from the lower house of the parliament.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qurshi said party MNAs presented themselves for verification of the resignations but the NA Speaker did not show up.

He claimed: “We were made to wait for two and half hours but the NA Speaker did not come, we had decided to wait till 4:00 PM but the speaker did not show up at 4:15.”

Qureshi said PTI lawmakers had fulfilled their moral duty by appearing at the speaker’s office.

He said that trumpeters of democracy had learnt nothing from the past. Qureshi said all the MNAs openly said that they had come to verify and that they had tendered resignations.

He said that 27 PTI MNAs out of total 34 had appeared at speaker chamber.
