Opposition walkout from NA over OGDCL privatisation

ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties in the National Assembly staged a walkout on Friday over the assault of Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGDCL) workers.

The PPP and JI submitted a privilege motion in the NA against the privatisation of OGDCL which condemned the assault on workers. The motion stated that the government’s anti-worker policies were becoming apparent.

Speaking to the media, PPP MNA Shazia Marri was critical of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar. “If the government’s attitude continues the day is not far that opposition parties in the NA will come out onto the streets."
ANP leader Ghullam Haider Bilour said the government made promises to get votes but is nowhere to be seen when the time for implementation comes.

The protest by opposition parties was held after Islamabad police used tear gas against OGDCL workers trying to reach Parliament. The OGDCL workers wanted to protest against privatisation.
