Court reserves order on dismissing treason case against Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: A special court in Islamabad on Friday reserved the judgement on dismissing the high treason case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and including others as parties in the case till November 21.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab resumed hearing of the case today during which Musharraf’s counsel Barrister Farogh Naseem submitted the rejoinder in the court.

A newspaper cutting of former governor Khalid Maqbool’s statement published in Daily Dunya was also presented before the bench in which he had mentioned that everyone including him was taken into confidence over the emergency imposed on November 3.

Barrister Farogh Naseem argued that all the lawmakers who approved the November 3 step were the supporters and allies in abrogating the constitution and imposing emergency, therefore, they should be tried jointly.

On this, Justice Faisal Arab remarked that lengthy arguments were presented from both the parties, hence, appropriate time would be required to finalise the judgement.

Consequently, the court reserved its order on dismissing the treason case against Musharraf and including others as parties in the case till November 21.
