QUETTA: Use of modern technology, including biometric system, can help check absenteeism of teachers, students and tracing out ghost teachers and employees in the education sector, stated Advisor to Chief Minister Balochistan on Education Sardar Raza Muhammad Baraich on Sunday. Baraich said, “It is reality there was absenteeism of a number of teachers, students at schools. Therefore, we have decided to get help from modern technology including installation of Biometric System in educational institutions to check and control this practice”. He said the system would also help in tracing out ghost teachers in state-run schools. “Yes, there are information about some ghost teachers or that a number of teachers have been drawing their salaries but they were not taking classes,” he said, adding that, however, Biometric System of attendance would also help in pointing out such teachers. He said that due to outdated policies and system, education sector has been facing some difficulties, which cause obstacles in bringing improvement in this sector. “We are going to introduce research-based School Cluster System as principal of high school will monitor the attendance and performance of middle and primary schools lying within its jurisdiction,” he said. Advisor to CM said that several schools have no boundary walls, toilets and other basic facilities.
