Aitzaz sees no ‘total war’ between Pakistan, India
ISLAMABAD: Despite escalations between Pakistan and India, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart Senator Aitzaz Ahsan sees no all out war between two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Speaking on the house of floor during the joint sitting of the parliament Thursday, Aitzaz Ahsan said, “Pakistan and India will not engage in total war because both are nuclear-armed nations. Despite some firing and shelling at the Line of Control and Working Boundary there will be no war.”
Lamenting the government, PPP leader said government has failed to impose ban on non state actors.
Aitzaz also criticized PM Nawaz Sharif for not mentioning the name of Indian RAW agent Kulbhushan Yadav, arrested by Pakistan authorities from Balochistan, in his United Nations General Assembly speech.
He said, “I am still waiting for the prime minister to bring up names of Indian spies in his addresses."
PPP Senator said the government needed to take important measures to unite the nation. “If we don’t end the misunderstandings from among us how would we be able to fight the Kashmir case?” he said.
Aitzaz Ahsan said there is a general perception among many that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would mostly benefit Punjab.
“People are beginning to think CPEC is in fact ‘China-Punjab’ Economic Corridor and this is not acceptable to us,” he said.
The senator said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would only be able to look Narendra Modi in the eye once he clears himself from the Panama Leaks issue.
