Business tycoon Hashwani says Gen Raheel should stay

KARACHI: Business tycoon Sadruddin Hashwani has said Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif should not step down at the end of his three-year term in November.

General Raheel Sharif had said in January that he would resign at the end of his three-year term. “Speculation that General Sharif would seek to extend his tenure for another term was baseless, the army's public relations wing said in a series of tweets issued on January 25 this year.

In an interview with Geo News aired on Saturday night, the chairman of Hashoo Group said he believed that he would have risen to the level of Tata Group, Indian multinational conglomerate holding company, if his progress had not been hindered by rulers.

In his message to people of the country he said, Pakistanis should not think of leaving the country as they would eventually come back to Pakistan due to growing intolerance against Muslims in the world.

Responding to another question, he said he plans to pen another book which he thinks might land him in prison as he would make revelations against rulers of the past and present.

He said businessmen, politicians and others must not forget death as "we have to leave this world and are answerable to Allah for our deeds,”.
