Scotland Yard drops money-laundering case against Altaf, others

LONDON: The Scotland Yard has decided to drop the money-laundering investigation involving Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain, Sarfraz Merchant, Muhammad Anwar and others.

According to Geo/The News reporter Murtaza Ali Shah, the case has been dropped against Altaf Hussain, Sarfraz Merchant, Muhammad Anwar and others on the directives of Crown Prosecution Service.

The case was dropped over insufficient evidence to prove that the money seized at Altaf's house was the proceeds of crime.

Scotland Yard says no further action will be taken against Altaf in the money-laundering case.
