Can't disclose context of Indian funding statement: Anwar

LONDON: MQM London representative Muhammad Anwar said on Thursday that he could not disclose the context behind his statement pertaining to Indian funding due to certain reasons.

Muhammad Anwar said that he could not reveal the context of the statement he had allegedly made to the British police, in which the MQM London representative had supposedly accepted receiving Indian funding. Speaking at Geo News' program Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath, Anwar said that he could not reveal the context of the statement on media.

"The interviews continued for 10 to 15 hours. The context [of the statement] can only be found in those interviews. It cannot be understood by only presenting four lines of the interview," he said. "Such things cannot be discussed in media. Our entire trial has been conducted in the media," he added.

Throughout the interview, Muhammad Anwar did not deny his statement pertaining to RAW funding but said that MQM had always emerged victorious in the end. Anwar said that full cooperation had been given to the Scotland Yard and that they were confident of the positive outcome since the very beginning.

Scotland Yard had said on Thursday that no "further action will be taken against Altaf Hussain" and others in the money-laundering case. Hence, the case was dropped altogether.
