SC clarifies CJP's remarks in Orange Train project case’s hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has clarified the news item regarding the remarks attributed to Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali during hearing of the Orange Line Train Project case on October 13.

According to a press release issued by the SC here on Friday, the news about remarks attributed to Supreme Court Chief Justice, Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali during the hearing of Orange Line Train Project case on October 13, 2016, published in the section of media on Friday under caption "monocracy exist in this country in the name of democracy but it is for the people who voted the rulers to power to stand up against them was termed a misleading and concocted news."

"The news item gave the impression as the chief justice was inciting people against the rulers of Pakistan," the release said. Therefore, it is clarified that the news item as reported that people should stand up against the rulers is totally false, baseless and misleading.

He remarked "people should carefully assess the situation and prudently use their right to vote while electing their representatives". Moreover, it is required that the media should exercise caution instead of creating sensationalism through their reporting in the media which distort the actual facts.
