ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on a disqualification reference against him – linking to PTI funds.
The petition seeking disqualification of Imran came up for hearing before the ECP on Tuesday. The counsel for the petitioner said, Imran has filed incorrect certification of party funds and, therefore, he does not fulfil Article 62 and 63 of the constitution as he collected funds through prohibited sources.
He told the commission that PTI collected funds amounting to $2.992 million from 2001 to 2013 through illegal sources. The ECP issued a notice to Imran after hearing the arguments from the counsel of petitioner and adjourned the hearing of the case till December 1.
