BOL TV starts transmission after delay of 16 months

KARACHI: BOL TV launched its transmission on Tuesday – after a 16 month-long legal proceedings’ delay against the media group.

According to BOL TV’s tweet, the channel’s transmission was launched on Tuesday at 6pm as the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered restoration of its licence on September 26.

Earlier, the TV channel was set to be launched in 2015 but the plan was discarded after its parent company – Axact – was sacked in a fake degree scandal.

The Axact scandal surfaced in May last year when The New York Times (NYT) published a report that claimed the company sold fake diplomas and degrees online through hundreds of fictitious schools.

Subsequently, Axact’s offices were sealed, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and key officials were arrested and a probe was launched into the matter.
