Altaf Hussain defers decision on MQM MNAs’ resignation

KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has put off the decision of resignation of all party members of the parliament on the request of JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The statement issued by the MQM stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman telephoned Altaf Hussain and exchanged views on the ongoing political crisis and the overall situation prevailing in the country.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the MQM is a big political party and it has an important role in the political affairs of the country and hence the MQM should review its decision to resign from parliament.

He also asked Altaf Hussain to direct the MQM members to attend the session of parliament taking place at a highly critical juncture of the political history of the country and express their views.

MQM chief accepted the request by Maulana Fazlur Rehman and postponed the decision of resignation of MQM lawmakers. He also gave assurance that the MQM members would attend the joint session of parliament.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman concurred with Mr Hussain that sits-ins being held by two political parties should be postponed in view of the heavy rains and consequent flooding. Both leaders expressed grief and sorrow on the loss caused by rains and flooding and said that all political parties should make united efforts for helping people affected by the natural disasters and the IDPs.
