Army continues rescue, relief operations in flood hit areas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army troops have been moved to Multan, DG khan, Layyah, Sahiwal and Trimoo Headworks to meet the crisis situation following floods that have forced people to evacuate from their homes.

According to a press release by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) wing of the Pakistan Army is continuing its efforts in the flood hit areas of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot,Chinot, Mandi Bahaudin and surrounding areas.

The ISPR statement adds, that “in line with their traditions Army troops are working at full pace and capacity to extend maximum help to their brethren in distress”.

On Sunday 16 helicopter sorties were flown to rescue people trapped in areas inaccesible by roads due to the floods. The statement adds, that 2,300 people were rescued by helicopters.
