Vacate riverine areas, PDMA forewarns; heavy flood approaching

MULTAN – Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has urged people of riverine belt of Chenab to vacate these high risk areas as heavy flood water is approaching Multan.
Villagers of Muhammadpur Ghota, Qasim Bela, Basti JhokShajra, Nawabpur, Ponta (Shujabad), Tahirpur, Basti Shahpur (Jalalpur Pirwala) and other areas lying along the river Chenab were asked to shift to safe places at the earliest. The population of these villages is in thousands.
PDMA sources said that 5,0,9400 cusecs water was flowing from Trimmu Headworks which could disturb people of riverine areas of Multan. The Authority also urged the public to extend cooperation to the district administration in order to ensure their safety and security.
