LAHORE – Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that discipline does not mean to follow an illegal order of seniors.

Addressing a group of newly-employed sub-inspectors in the Pakistan Railways police here on Saturday, he said that the new appointments were made entirely on merit so it would be right to expect from them to follow law and denial to any illegal order, adding that it was the right of the nation and the department to expect so.

The minister said that the police was custodian of the uniform so it should never be misused. He said that the government would never utilise them for politics, adding the government and the PML-N were two separate things. He said that the employment in the Pakistan Railways and the police were being made on merit by rejecting nepotism, political pressure, bribe and approach.

He said that not a single sub-inspector among the fresh employments was from his electoral constituency. He appreciated PR Inspector General Munir Ahmad Chishti and other police officers for honesty, dedication and leadership qualities and said that the police had successfully ensured the security of railways and passengers and retrieved land worth billions of rupees from the land grabbers.

The inspector general and Deputy Inspector General Shariq Jamal were also present on the occasion.
