Altaf withdraws decision to resign as party chief

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has withdrawn his decision to resign as party head, hours after announcing to relinquish his charge, Geo News reported.

Altaf withdrew his resignation on the insistence of party workers and supporters, saying it was last time to accept the demand of workers.

He said Pakistan is facing uncountable issues and they should resolve them.

MQM founder appealed the government and establishment to allow all TV channels to perform their duties, particularly Geo News should be given complete freedom to run its transmission.

On Sunday night, Altaf Hussain had relinquished his role as party chief and announced to shift all the responsibilities to the Rabita Committee.

Mr Hussain had that the Rabita Committee could elect anybody it deemed fit as chief of the MQM.

He said that the Rabita Committee didn’t mend its ways despite his instructions.
