LAHORE – Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Tuesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri should set aside politics of ego and stubbornness in the larger interest of Pakistan.

In a press statement, he said that the government had shown maximum flexibility on its part but Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri were not doing so. He said that the parliament would make final decision how to resolve the sit-ins. Saad said that those who were demanding the resignation of the prime minister were now asking for the resignation of District Police Officers (DPOs).

He further said that Imran Khan and Qadri were creating unrest in the federal capital and rest of Pakistan by creating artificial crisis. Those attacking on public buildings and law enforcement departments were actually fulfilling the agenda of Pakistan’s enemy, he said. The minister said that stopping people from paying taxes, humiliating parliament and other state institutions was against the integrity of Pakistan.

He said that roots of the conspiracy for indulging state institutions into confrontation through sit-ins were out of Pakistan. The progress of Pakistan was being stopped through agitations, he added. The minister said that sit-ins and hinderance in the way of Chinese investment were linked with each other.

Saad said that the displaced persons and flood-hit people were mourning over the senselessness of those staging sit-ins.
